"Permission blocked" - click the camera icon in the address bar and allow it, then press Start again.
"No camera found" - many laptops have a privacy shutter or a camera key (often F8, F10 or a key with a camera icon). Check Windows Settings → Privacy & security → Camera, and Device Manager → Cameras.
"Camera is busy" - close Teams, Zoom, Skype or the Camera app and try again.
Black picture but the camera is listed - shutter closed, or a camera/display cable problem at the hinge (a repair-shop job).
Very low frame rate - poor light makes webcams slow down; try a brighter room before blaming the hardware.

Fix: No hardware fault: the gimbal protector was left on at power-up. Removed it, calibrated - fully stable.
